Primary School PE and Sports Premium
Background to the additional funding and guidance given be the DfE
Purpose of the funding: Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.
Vision: All pupils leaving primary school will be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
Objective: To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools. It is important to emphasise that the focus of spending must lead to long lasting impact against the vision that will live on well beyond the Primary PE and Sports Premium funding.
It is expected that schools will see an improvement against 5 key indicators:
The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick starting healthy active lifestyles.
The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole improvement.
Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
Increased participation in competitive sport.
Whitehouse PRU use of PE and Sports Premium
At Whitehouse PRU we believe PE and sports should play an important role in the lives of our pupils and that it has the potential to improve lives for the better. We recognise that PE and sports not only improves healthy lifestyles but also supports the development of social and emotional skills for our pupils.
Whitehouse PRU is a member of Venn Multi-academy Trust and part of the Venn Sports Partnership. As a group we work together to provide sporting opportunities, competitions and professional development for staff.
During 2017 – 2018 we believe Whitehouse PRU will receive around £7000.00
