At Bridgeview we expose pupils to a variety of texts and listen to them read daily.
Pupils first learn their letter sounds and names then apply these to word building. We use Read, Write, Inc as the basis for our teaching. It is a recognised synthetic phonics scheme. The pupils will also learn a variety of other key words by sight.
We have a new reading scheme; Bug Club, which we use for our instructional 1:1 reading, guided reading sessions and we have a paid subscription for all pupils to access texts online at home.
